Medic read from his book How Stevie Nearly Lost the War and Other Postwar Stories.
Mike, an MP in Vietnam in ’68, won the 1972 Yale Younger Poets Award for his poetry collection Obscenities. He read from his newest book There It Is: News and Selected Poems. He preferred not to be taped. The audience much enjoyed his vigorous humor and countering pathos.
Three veterans from the Salem Veteran’s Writer’s Group introduced the reading. The event lasted ninety minutes. Medic’s segment is below.
